the ask: create a brand identity for a new activist organization and festival that collaborates with multiple community partners to protect and advocate for Black lives
the solution: create a simple black and white identity that puts collaborative identity-making first, that’s bold without being flashy
BlackOut Omaha: In the summer of 2020, after James Scurlock died at a Black Lives Matter protest in downtown Omaha, a group of young activists formed BlackOut Omaha to facilitate radical community collaboration, protest, and the celebration of Black life and lives.
X = an homage to Malcolm X born in Omaha, also, collaboration
BlackOut Fest, a festival celebrating Black voices, Black businesses, and driving voter registration in North Omaha, a primarily Black community frequently underserved by Omaha politicians.
